Digital Radio
The original frequency allocations for DAB in Australia were in L-band, but successful lobbying by broadcasters produced temporary allocations in Band III which have turned into an official public service. Australia was a key player in the enhancement of the original DAB specification to include AAC and AAC+ codecs, in a revised spec known as DAB+. Australia was one of the first countries to adopt DAB+ and did so from the beginning of the official service. There continues to be an experimental transmission in L-band in Sydney, but all the regular DAB+ broadcasts are now in Band III.
Digital Television
The system for digital television used in Australia is DVB-T, using MPEG 2. High-definition broadcasts are also available from terrestrial transmitters and these also used MPEG-2.
When comparing internet retailers, remember to include the cost of delivery in your calculations.
Retailers with low headline prices can often have higher delivery charges. Comparison websites usually list the lowest headline price first, but the best deal may be lower down the list.
I'd be grateful to receive information about other receivers.
